5 ways to bring more Nordic balance into your life

Rankings are out. Now what? Numbers and stats are good. As they say, they always tell the truth. Maybe not the whole truth but a part of it. The new happiness rankings of countries were out yesterday and people started to wonder what makes the Nordics a happier place. Sorry! Their people the happiest on the planet.

There has been extensive research about how to define happiness and what brings it in our life. Here is the thing! Sometimes we tend to think big, even for things that should remain down to earth. Like happiness. There is no recipe but rather a string of small everyday things you can do or receive, to get happier.

Want to find out 5 easy things you can take on as a habit in your everyday routine? Read on!

Rinse and repeat!

What is really important to do with the list below is to be consistent. Try to make these a routine and practice them little by little every day. You will see the (Nordic) difference:

#1 Eat less. Nutrition and diet are fundamental to our well-being. Say no to excessive calories and eat lagom. Not too little (of anything), not too much.

#2 Declutter. Physical space means mental space. You know what they mean when they talk about a clean and tidy desk at work right? Do the same with your house. Throw away anything unnecessary (or better reuse / recycle / pass it on to others) and make your home breathe.

#3 Relax. Do it like the Finns or the Norwegians. Take a walk, cycle to work, go to the forest or the sea, to unwind and recharge. It works.

#4 Think & act positively. Everything will turn out OK in the end. Thetta reddast as the Icelanders say. Work on how to solve problems, rather than complain about them. If you feel you cannot, do #3 above and try again.

#5 Hygge up. Spend quality time with friends and family. Turn off your mobiles and focus on the moment, the food, the company and warmth of togetherness.
